The Elea Institute awarded our Midwest Health Foundation a $100,000 grant for a new hospice care program at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth St. Thomas Hospice.
The grant will help fund the Removing Barriers: Uncompensated Hospice Care project, which seeks to remove financial barriers and increase equity in end-of-life care by providing uncompensated hospice services to qualifying patients.
“We value the opportunity to support the Foundation’s initiative to provide hospice care regardless of financial status,” said Elea Institute’s Board Chair Kent Mathy. “By eliminating the barrier of cost, families can focus on ensuring a quality end-of-life care experience for their loved one.”
“We are pleased to receive these grant funds, which will help us fulfill our calling to extend the healing ministry of Christ,” said Thor Thordarson, president and CEO of UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Great Lakes Region. “These funds will further our mission as we seek to provide compassion through every stage of life and increase equity in access to St. Thomas Hospice services for those in our communities needing it most.”
St. Thomas Hospice cares for patients and their loved ones in body, mind and spirit. Hospice team members help loved ones feel comfortable while supporting the whole family. For more information on this grant and financial assistance at St. Thomas Hospice, call Call630-856-0990.
