Case Manager
Katie is a native of the south side of Chicago and has remained in the Chicago suburbs except for one adventurous year in Colorado Springs filled with skiing and hiking. Her first few semesters of college were at Illinois State taking electives toward an education degree. On a summer break after volunteering at Christ Hospital, she followed an inevitable path of working at Little Company of Mary as a nurse’s aide, and eventually obtained a baccalaureate degree in nursing at St. Xavier University in 1992.
After thirty years of nursing in the ER, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac/neuro IR, and home health, she joined Adventist Hinsdale Family Medicine Residency Clinic as a faculty member and case manager. Having a passion for holistic care that includes mind, body, and spirit, Katie loves being able to utilize her strong clinical background while serving as a case manager with an emphasis on community-based healthcare and the psycho-social needs of the patients. Katie truly enjoys teaching and sharing knowledge with the residents and medical students. The community health piece which includes partnering the HFMC clinic with Hinsdale Community Services and coordinating home health visits, has become a very fulling and worthwhile part of her role.
Outside of work, you’ll find Katie spending time with her soon-to-be husband and his family, catching up with her two adult daughters, cooking, bike riding, hiking, and going to the pool or beach. Music, comedy, and the mountains are passions that feed her soul, and Katie enjoys periodically playing keyboards with a group of musicians at public and private events. After being blessed to spend a semester of college at Grenoble University in France, Katie hopes to do some traveling abroad with her husband and family in the future.
